My home for the next week!!

Saturday, March 27, 2010

So today I drive down a country road in Langley and see that the my dream country house ( there also is a dream ocean and mountain house) is FOR SALE!!! picture yellow two story farmhouse with red barn and acres of rolling pasture. Pure bliss. Not going to happen, but a girl can dream!!
I also wrote the final of my ER speciality theory course 1, this course garnered marks not seen since highschool so hopes are high that passing occured!!! Working tonight my first shift backsince pulling my back and it is actually going pretty good. I am in Fast track so no heavy lifting but I am not so sure what occupational health would say about the wrestling with the four yearold!!! wow those little kids that don't want to do something are definatly strong, but when it comes down to it 4adults vs 1 kid. we will win and yes you will have stiches on your chin.

Kathleen and Nicole

I had the pleasure this week of trying out my new lense on my fabulous gorgeous cousins. They showed up in their vibrant purple shirts and coordinating tennis shoes and the day got better from that point forward. We went to a few differant places and got some differant looks. These are some of my favorites. The joy these girls have for life really comes through and it was great fun working with them.

Days of Grace

Days of Grace 8:365

1) Sunshiny gorgeous weather
2) A dad who can fix my computer when it is dumb (message read"can not detect keyboard, push F1 or delete to continue".... if there is no keyboard.. how will that help??)
3)New yellow shoes
4)A day with friends

That my friends, is my name on the assigment sheet for the first time!!!!

I am finished my new grad mentorship hours and am now baseline staff. The shift before this I was kind of on my own too because we were short but it was in an area where you work with 2 other RNS so it wasn't quiteby myself.. But this FIRST day was truely on my own, with an LPN in the Medical decision unit of the ER. Was a fairly reasonable day patient flow wise.. not to much movement upstairs.. but definatly some interesting stuff.. like who knew it could take >1/2 hour to unblock a NG tube?? (defiantly somehow missed that happening the last four years), that that patient with non-cardiac diagnosis could have a trop of 2.12 ( for non medical persons.. that is 500x the normal level.. oh and when its elevated it means you have heart muscle dying.. aka heart attack), and.. .various other ++interesting scenarios.. but it was a good day.
Then I worked my first weekend of nights int he ER.. CRAZINESS.. but it wasn't just me.. I thought perhaps that was how all weekends were until the nurse who had been working for 25 years said that was the worst night ever.. but do you what.. I love it. Such a challenge, hard work.. and forget about sleep breaks but so fantastic at the same time!!!!
**Confidentilailty point.. Patient examples do not reflect the age, gender, date, or possibly diagnosis, hospital location is never even certain as per BCIT I will do rotations at various hospitals.

Winter Camping

So we/us (Corina, Martin, Jeff, Mike, Wouter, Tim, I) headed up Highway 5 on a bright springlike day and found a patch of winter .

We have arrived!!

Martin checking to see if the snow was deep enough.. this picture taken before it turned into a municipal like job.. one guy working 5 watching!!

Tim trying to unplug those ears.. poor Ontario boy not so used to elevation gains nor people crazy enough to want to find snow and sleep in it!!!

Loading up our stuff and pulling it the 1km in to the campsite

Martin who joyfully and fearlessly guided the experience

My architectural rendition of the quinze (igloo)

Corina working away to build the snow mound which we stamped down and then carved out

The view out of the front door

Working away.. I went in and didn't comeout for about 1 1/2 hour.. felt abit mole like

Warm fire to warm up by was fantastically all ready to go when we were done building. Corina and I were little Franklins.. took us the time to build our igloo that Martin built his, went back for another load of wood and dug the fire pit.. o well

Ceremonial Opening of the Toblerone Bar

We hiked to Zoa Peak the next day.. One hour slog up the pipeline and then 2 1/2 hours of gorgeous untouched 4foot power through the trees to the summit

We were on the back side for abit.. defiantly a coastal mountain from the front and a merrit hill on the backside

My stove did superb and provided nice hot soup at the top

The top!!

The way down was fantastic. one hour of ski/sliding down!!!

Then we rode our sleds down the hill to the truck and went back to spring time!!
