Six on Saturday

1) My little Clarice is once again playing the tunes!!! so so thankful it has been a very quite last four weeks in which I have once again become aware of all the sounds and rattles a car makes as I drove in peace and quite back and forth to New West. But with much searching for the radio code, the removal of the radio just as I discovered the code, the attempts at resetting by pulling fuses and disconnecting batteries it is once again singing!!! and I am very happy

2)My new clinical placement is at Surrey, Thinking it is going to be great because there is definitely a high volume of patients that comes through and I have seen some interesting things already in just the one real shift- note to self- if I ever have permanent invasive tubes coming out of my abdomen and they break, do not cut with scissors and put back together because bugs live on scissors and those bugs are bad news with they get in to your tummy!!! Also note to self, do not go to Surrey ER if you are medium sick because you will end up on a stretcher in a long line of stretchers down a dark dreary hall.

3) We went for girly lunch with the aunts, cousins and Oma today, was so much fun and a bright cheeriness in a dark day.

We went because Amy was home from Alberta

And it was Kathleen's Birthday

Kathleen showed Elena how to properly extend the pinkie!!

4) I am somewhat afraid that my blog tends to be rather egocentric. I read a few other blogs and everyone seems to have kids. I don't have kids. Therefore you have to suffer me talking about myself.
5)Had a sleep over last night with good friends. Watched a movie, ate chips, chatted until the wee hours of the morning. A ton of fun but more tiring then I remember it being. I guess it has something to do with getting up at five the previous morning.

6)You will show me the path of life;In Your presence is fullness of joy ;At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16 vs 11

Megs

was kinda cloudy gray day for this shoot, but Megans sunny personality chased away all the gloominess and we had a fun fun time. Megan was up for anything and we got a nice variety of shots.

The blue wall is kinda classic chilliwack photography.. but really who can resist it

Summer Eats

Taking a break from the books for some lunch. I am on a summer food kinda day. I need to trick myself in to thinking it is summer, despite the rain coming down!!. I am having some Greek salad for lunch and am thinking of fajitas for supper. This is following up on the raspberry smoothie that was breakfast.. speaking of smoothies what possesses a 16 yr old to think that even though his mother is gone for the night I that I would make him a chocolate ice cream milkshake for breakfast!!! I know I am the nice sister but really, that is pushing it. What are your favorite summer meals??
Anyway next up on the agenda- Disaster Planning and Pandemic preparedness; a nice cheery topic for the afternoon.

Saturday Friends

These pictures don't even really need words. They just show how true friends can have no real plans but manage to spend nine hours together and have a blast. But for the record we played football, zip/bong, running long jump, you -tube pick a song, appies, watched a movie, went out for dessert, and had a fire.

Ten on Thursday

1) I love how all the colours are so much more green and purple after a good rain

2)Today we are going for a working breakfast with our fabulous clinical instructor from clinical one. I am so so going to miss Adrien, she she questioned me to death to make sure I knew and understood all the pathology of what was happening to my patients and what I was going to do about it. But she also instilled in me the confidence that if I had skills and knowledge to care for people that two months ago I would have been backing off in fright.

3) My puppy dog is sticking closer to home that past day after spending a night in the wild blue yonder. The battery on her collar had been dead and she in hot pursuit of something must have crossed the boundary and took off. Post walking around with flashlights in the rain for one hour and a rather sleepless night for some, she returned in the morning. Soaking wet and not telling where she had been =;)

4)Does anyone have any recommendations for a little car tool kit? I spent an hour with my telemechanic (aka dad) after my car sprung a leak in the coolant system in New West and one of the findings of the report of the incident stated that I need to have my own tools!!!

5) Also relating to car spewing steam is that God really does care about your cell phone. Mine was deader than dead. but I (who have never prayed for a cell phone before) prayed, and was revived long enough for the telemachinicing, and promptly died after Clarice was fixed!! Recommendation from the report stated that I should probably have my car phone charger in my car!!

6)We had the director of Insite the safe injection site in Vancouver come and talk to us at school about harm reduction. I realize all the benefits of the harm reduction strategies and the good that it does, but I just cant wrap my head around the fact that it is illegal.

7) Getting excited about the photography course coming up at the end of June!!

8) I got my papers submitted for sailing at the end of August. 10days. the west coast. sailing. friends. amazing times ahead.

9) Amy, my favorite youngest sister is coming home next week for a week!!!! Super Super proud of her for completing her unit clerk course with straight A's!!!

10) Happy that after tomorrows MONSTER exam, I have a few commute free days and its the weekend!!.

Differant Side of the Coin

So I haven't written much this week at all but just wanted to share a few tidbits with you.
I felt old a few times this week.. not super old but just little things that made me realize that perhaps I might be growing up. Such as you know you are getting old when- 1) Not only am I counting on husbands when friends come over, but now I am trying to sort out in my head where their kids will sleep if they bring them along!! 2) the surgeon that comes to see one of my patients looks like he is no more than 20 and the RCMP officer 12!!!.. well maybe 17 but still.

Do you ever wonder why other people don't see things the same way you do, or don't remember an event or place the way you do. Well this week I had a great example of how we all see things differently. We had an RCMP officer come to see about a patient and afterwards one of us made a comment and the conversation kinda turned into what we had noticed about him.
Arenda said that she noticed he was very tall
Dawn was observing how much stuff he had around his waist compared to what we carried in our pockets
Tamara, who was interested in guns, noticed that one of his wasn't loaded
I remarked on how I had thought his vest looked very warm for the summer, (oh and that this one didn't look 12!!)
I just thought how this is really how we all go through life and really should be more patient and understanding when others don't always see our perspective.

Kathleen

On Mother's Day, we snuck away to try out a spot I had seen when trail riding. kathleen as always is a gorgeous natural model and I was happy with the pics. Good thing I tried this out first a girl who doesn't mind to get her feet green and gooey.... I know for next time that we can only go there if 1) it hasn't rained in a month 2) the model is wearing gumboots!! Fun Fun Fun and worth missing the salmon appies
