May Salts

Tuesday morning dawned soggy and dark.  I was not super excited by the prospect of a wet week on the boat but was pleasantly surprised.  It did not rain adrop after Monday am and was a fabulous week.

Sailing with the Grace down Haro Strait
One of the girls who does the grocery shopping made us a little friend for the week.  Wally the Whale- rus.  Here he is checking out Plumper Sound
Checking out the compass to make sure we are on track
Bec and Wally having a moment
Sam.. survived his climbing experience =)

Knot Lesson. Sam and GA teaching their knots.  I tend to pick to teach the figure 8 knot.  Simple and I get to make a story to go with.  " alright lets make a snowman head with the line,   that snow man is cold so lets wrap a scarf around his neck,  and poke him in the eye !!!"

Wally helped me make breakfast the next morning
 Pancake steam and whipped cream

He also helped me eat it =)

Morning Clean up

Wally took a ride in the dory to Breeze Bay Beach on Saturna Island

 Enjoying the flowers
And watching Bec and I play Elephant Tunnel Vision tag
 Watching the kids swim
 GA having a sloth sleep

Can you spot the crazy man in the tree!!
Bosuns are notorious for eating. Sam is helping GA out by packing him some snacks for while he is oiling the main top mast.

Up he goes with food to sustain him =)
 C. Checking out where we are
These next are Iphone photos from up on the yard.  What an amazing day.  Krystal and I also spotted a gray whale from up here =)

For all of you wondering.. yes I do work.  I did stupid swaps to get all this time off =)

Victoria Long Weekend

Post a crazy shift at work which included an entire afternoon at Royal Columbian Hospital wondering if I would get an ambulance ride back to ARH in time to leave for my ferry. I headed over to the island.  The basic plan for the weekend was supposed to be hiking on Friday and Tofino for a Stagette but the stagette got cancelled so a most wonderful relaxing weekend of friends ensued.
Sunset over Delta Port
Breakfast in the Sunny Convent House- call this because not only do 6 single girls live here but its also on Convent Street

Niki and I headed out in the pouring rain. When we got to East Sooke park the rain had stopped so we spent a lovely 2 1/2 hours hiking the seaside trail.  This shot on a little lunch/nap break.  Looking out into the Strait of Juan De Fuca

The next morning we headed over to make breakfast with Sarah and Sjoerd and spend some quality time with Khaler!!

Then it was home for Niki and I to play book club!!!! Its our favorite introvert activity.  We hang out and read our own books and drink tea.  Great for quiet time and little bits of conversation.
Then it was out to kick Sarah and will out of their house to make supper and hang out with the kids (letting them have some adult time) and then enjoy supper all together
 Mable loves to help!!
Sarah putting the finishing touches on her pie
 MMM good

Will and Niki took a pottery class this winter and Will just got his own pottery kickwheel.  He let niki try it and then let me have a go.. soo much fun.  Anyone else out there wanting to take a class this fall??

Will has been making some gorgeous stuff
My creation, however, got to the point where Will said " this is where it gets super delicate and most likely to break .......oh, it just broke"

Sunday Morning I headed to Church with Michelle who sang like an angel as per usual.  The pastor preached an amazing sermon on Ephesians 2 14-20
14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,[e] 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.[f] 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Just delving into what it means to pray this and mean it and what God and work in us and through us as we trust him and grow.

After church we drove up the west coast, hiked in two km to Mystic Beach where we met Sam and Elske who had come up on their motor bike.  Sunshine, waves, waterfalls, brie and fruit!!

Monday was walks with Mich and Al, booster juice and alone time.  So thankful for a sunshiney weekend
