Aldergrove Lake Family Pictures
Last Saturday I has the fabulous opportunity to shoot this extended family. Mom and Dad with their five girls and assorted family's. While it was raining in Chilliwack the fall sun was shining in Aldergrove Lake Park. A great location for family pics and extended family pictures because with all the different paths and fields, backgrounds abound.
Sisters
These little girls will be best of friends
Little Girls =)
Lady Peak
On labour day when everyone was sleeping in I got up at 0430. I don't mind to get up early but especially to beat heat and any hint of a crowd but this morning I was a little apprehensive because I knew that by getting out of bed there was a high chance of not getting back in for 28 hours. Why was I doing this.. To hike. in the words of my college who I texted at 430 to tell something that I forgot to say in report "you are crazy!!" But Uncle Gerald and I, on a day when half of Chilliwack hikes Mt Cheam, wanted to hike Lady Peak but wanted to beat the Cheam crowds. The early morning was worth it tho when we were the first at the parking lot and didn't have to talk to another person until we were halfway down.
Lady is the peak just to the right when looking up a Cheam.
Lady from the Parking lot. You share the trail with Mt Cheam until about the Jones Lake viewpoint then it splits.
occasional little "shusks" to mark the trail. It was a bit of find your own way and then feel confirmed when you saw a marker.
Snack Break
Scree and more scree
Into the scrambing
The drop off in to the Jones area
And more up
Views over the back side
Summit!!!
Looking back at Cheam
Don't step back =)
We were at the top by 10 which was so nice. Hung out for an hour before heading down. Ended up taking just under 3hrs up and 2 hours down
The top ridge is only about 2 1/2 feet wide
This is why 430 is worth it. And I even squeaked in a 2 hour nap before heading off to work =)

Sam and Elske September 15 2013
Last week gave me the opportunity to capture the moments of a superbly
fabulous day. Wedding photography doesn't get much better then shooting the wedding of favorite friends marring each other. Sam and Elske are no strangers to me or this blog.. However the usual things filling the pages when we are together are rugged surf beaches or desolate mountain tops. See here and here for some examples. This day had none of that but had all of the other essential elements of a wonderful day- love, friends, laughter, adventure, surprises, rain, good food and time spent community.
Mutual love for adventure, God, open and true relationships, growth, continued discussion, community, laughter, fun is what drew Sam and Elske together and is evident in their lives. They joined their lives together this past weekend in a day that celebrated all of that.
Ps- if you just want to see the pics (and in big) click on the first one and it will go to a slide show
Sam and his family started it off with breakfast together
Meanwhile at the Andersons things were hopping as girls were getting ready, a pig was roasting and final touches on the reception were being completed
Sam and Elske chose simple matching bands.
Her gorgeous gown suited her perfectly.
Pretty lace was what she wanted.. and what she got
Oma out early to pick the flowers for the table centerpieces
Friends set up and manned the pig roast all day long
Before we knew the guys had arrived!!
Plenty of people around to keep Sam company as he waited for his bride!!
The Vaale Men
Sam speechless when he saw is gorgeous bride
Nerves past.. the fun and games began!!
The lovely pre ceremony bustle =)
The civil ceremony was quick and lovely beneath the trellis
Then off we drove to Metchosin for the ceremony
Sam just a little happy
MARRIED!!!
Time mingling and photo taking with family
Grabbed a couple of shots in the back of the garden
Then we headed downtown to the boats.. On the way the heavens opened with torrential downpour!!! I was a little worried but it was nice and dry when we were actually there!!
As the rain started we decided that a mocha was inorder so we headed to Bean .. everyones favorite
Good thing we warmed up .. .because it may have been pouring at the reception!!!
Toasts beneath the pear tree
Cutting in the pig =)
If it was going to rain on anyones day this was the couple for it to happen too. Here they are posing to highlight their jackets... hoping to get free ones from Patigonia.
Lots of fun pics from the reception.. but as this post is reaching epic proportions I don't have room to share.
Sam and Elske it was a great privilege to share in your day. I wish you the happiest of honeymoons and a most wonderful married life together.
