Six on Saturday

1)     I officially have gone two days without a U-turn.  I still however am too attached to my MAP app.

2)    Walks are a bit lonely (read peaceful) without Death and Destruction (aka Sasha and Kasey) but I have discovered a lovely trail within walking distance of our house. It encircles a golf course and has lovely little duck ponds and sweeping views of the Olympic Peninsula Mountains.
3)    Modern Art Cake Pops with the last drippings of candymelt and some chocolate.  The pretty ones are for our house warming dinner tonight.
4)    The Grace was up out of the water in dry dock this week for some painting and work on the rudders.  The Swift should come out next week and then I’ll make sure I have my real camera to take some pictures of her.  The boats look absolutely huge when they are out of the water.  For perspective Sam and GlenAllen are about 6feet tall.

5) pretty sure I have gone to the store every day this week. Hopeing next week will be a little less as my cupboards fill up a little.
6) This week has gone so smooth and I have so felt all your wish and prayers and really felt the Lord near. I have been reading in some Psalms and these verses just really stuck out as those which show that He truly guides us in all.
Psalm 18:32 It is the God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect.
Psalm 18:36 You enlarged my path under me, So my feet did not slip.

Marine Ed

After completing five years of nursing science focused study I have switched focus and been taking marine courses. As well as the subject being different the course dynamics are so different.  Rather than a class with a 30:2 female: male ratio with the average demographic being a mid-twenties student, these classes are 1:12 female: male ratio with the latter being primarily 40-60 year old fisherman and tugboat operators. The classes have a strong focus on the practical which is great.   The first one I took a few weeks ago was sort of a bridge between the two, Marine Advanced First Aid.  This was a transport Canada required certification  in which I didn’t learn anything new but did gain some appreciation and pity for my c-spined patients, as well as learning useful stuff such as how to take a pulse and blood pressure =)
This week, however, I got to take Marine Emergency Duties A2.  This was super interesting course touched base with my inner dream of SAR and coastguard and was all about life rafts, open water survival, and firefighting.
(Class pics, iphone) Setting off hand held flares

Immersion Suites.  Sweet suits that besides a bit around the neck keep you complete dry in the water and extend your survival time from hypothermia in northern waters up to 48hours.
Learning how to right life rafts.

Being the only female has some perks.. I got to pull the tines to inflate the raft =)
We went out to the Navy Training School for Firefighting. They have completely built the inside of a ship inside a building and have a high tech propane system through out the rooms to have fires in galleys, bunks, engine rooms ect.  This was in a room where they were just showing us the stages of fire.  The heat was intense!!

Outside for Special K extinguisher training

Back inside for learning how to correctly open bulkhead doors away/towards you and then practice using both water and CO2 extinguishers to put out engine room fires.

Then back outside for fire hose defensive and attack techniques

House 2

We live in a fabulous area, just minutes from downtown on a quiet little out of the way up on a hill street that is super quiet but yet I can walk to the grocery store in two mins.    Our door is under the ginormous porch
Right in front of our door.. the steps lead down and around  to the woodsy/mountainy back yard
The back jungle... at the top of the photo on the left hand side is a super cute little bench were you can look out over the city.  If we go out the back gate and walk down a little road about 5 mins there is a golf course with a sweet trail around the outside.
The crowning glory of the house.  The amazing deck.  Its cedar and huge and has the most fabulous view out over the city and the ocean in the distance. Also the sunsets are amazing!!! It will be a blast for bbqs in the summer. I am so excited that all of us living in the house (upstairs and down) are such good friends.

Alright, so I am all moved in!!! We got possession of the house on the 31st.  That morning we met the landlord (and i saw the suite for the first time.. this was truely sight unseen as I hadn't even seen pics of either the inside or the outside. However it is a gorgeous place!!! After class I drove the van up to the house and started unloading. This is the first time I have moved in 20 years but my uneducated opinion is that it sure is alot easier to unpack then to pack.   I have not been at the house in day light yet so this is just pictures of the inside. The outside I'll try have posted by the weekend.

Standing in the entry way.  The door to the right is the bathroom the door on the far wall is my bedroom

The hall leading to the kitchen.  I'm standing in the doorway to Elske's Room. The hall has an awesome built in coat rack.
The Kitchen, I'm standing in the corner where we will eventually have a little table and chairs
Please note the glasses made it in one piece

First dinner in the new place =)
Starting on the decorating at midnight... will post some pics of that too once we have some things up.
