Winter Camping

So we/us (Corina, Martin, Jeff, Mike, Wouter, Tim, I) headed up Highway 5 on a bright springlike day and found a patch of winter .

We have arrived!!

Martin checking to see if the snow was deep enough.. this picture taken before it turned into a municipal like job.. one guy working 5 watching!!

Tim trying to unplug those ears.. poor Ontario boy not so used to elevation gains nor people crazy enough to want to find snow and sleep in it!!!

Loading up our stuff and pulling it the 1km in to the campsite

Martin who joyfully and fearlessly guided the experience

My architectural rendition of the quinze (igloo)

Corina working away to build the snow mound which we stamped down and then carved out

The view out of the front door

Working away.. I went in and didn't comeout for about 1 1/2 hour.. felt abit mole like

Warm fire to warm up by was fantastically all ready to go when we were done building. Corina and I were little Franklins.. took us the time to build our igloo that Martin built his, went back for another load of wood and dug the fire pit.. o well

Ceremonial Opening of the Toblerone Bar

We hiked to Zoa Peak the next day.. One hour slog up the pipeline and then 2 1/2 hours of gorgeous untouched 4foot power through the trees to the summit

We were on the back side for abit.. defiantly a coastal mountain from the front and a merrit hill on the backside

My stove did superb and provided nice hot soup at the top

The top!!

The way down was fantastic. one hour of ski/sliding down!!!

Then we rode our sleds down the hill to the truck and went back to spring time!!
